“You can never fully escape the noise in your mind, or your constant and sometimes erratic thoughts. You can merely learn to coexist with them"
I was really compelled to shoot this series about escaping my mind, my thoughts, which at times can be overwhelming because I’m an over-thinker and highly sensitive person. Ironically, the actual process of which I used to create this series helped me gain awareness around these feelings of needing to escape. You cannot escape them, you can only watch them, be aware of them, let them happen in the moment and don't pay them too much attention while replacing them with other thoughts. They will always be with us, so finding your outlet, or process or if you will, ‘escape’, is essential to allowing them to coexist inside you. This series was photographed grabbing photos in between and before movie screenings began, with nothing more than a camera teetering on a seat, and my model. The low light in these scenarios lent itself to a grainy quality, which seemed befitting and likened to the clutter in my head at the time.
